Dubai Marina hotel now under Marriott International management

The impressive 52-story Harbour Hotel and Residence is now under Marriott International management under the terms of an agreement reached between the Emirates Airline and Group. Ownership will still remain with the Emirates Airline and Group. The hotel will be renamed to reflect the new management and will be known as the Dubai Marriott Harbor Hotel and Suites. With the revitalization ongoing, the finished hotel will have 232 rooms available later this year. The Emirate Group believes that these two agreements will continue to attract leisure and business travelers to Dubai Marina and Business Bay.

Dubai Marina now has Dubai Metro service

The much anticipated opening of the Dubai Metro service is finally here. In an attempt to encourage visitors and travelers to visit some more remote areas of the city, the Dubai Metro service promises to be a favoured form of transportation for visitors and locals alike. Much planning went into the Dubai Metro service and the stops include the Dubai Marina, Emirates Tower, Burj Dubai, and the airport. The fully automated, five car sets are air conditioned and even have a separate car for women and children. A VIP carriage is also available. Since Dubai traffic concerns have overwhelmed the city in the past several years, the Dubai Metro will help relieve some of the congestion of the daily commute.

In fact, the purchase price of homes has fallen so sharply this year, that Dubai had the second highest decrease in property values (47.3%) in 33 cities for the first quarter of 2009. The decline did slow for the second quarter, (7.5%). For most economists, they believe the worst is behind and the values will continue to stabilize over the next few months.
