Dubai Tram – An Overview
The Dubai Tram is an essential part of the public transport network in the city, providing maximum convenience, safety and security. With 11 stations and a route that includes several landmarks, such as Dubai Marina and JBR, the Dubai Tram is a convenient way to get from one place to another.
Why Was Dubai Tram Introduced?
The Dubai Tram was built to link the Dubai Metro with the Palm Monorail along the Jumeirah Beach Road and Al Sufouh Road. It loops around Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Al Sufouh Road, passing through Dubai Media City, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Knowledge Park. Launched in November 2014, the service has helped reduce traffic congestion in popular tourist areas. In the initial nine years of its operations, 52 million people have travelled via the Tram.
RTA’s tram service is a modern and fully automated rail system that uses Platform Screen Doors and alerts such as audible beeps and flashing light signals to indicate the opening and closing of doors. Each tram has seven cabins, including gold class, silver class, women and children cabins and a special area for People of Determination.
